PFAS

PFAS/PFOA is a group of chemicals used in hundreds of different household and industrial products, for example, nonstick pans, waterproof clothing, food wrappers and firefighting foam. The full name of this group is Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances.

Once PFAS/PFOA enter the environment, they don’t break down for hundreds of years. Because they accumulate in the human body, even low levels of exposure can have serious health effects such as endocrine/immune system disruption, cancer, liver damage, harm to fetuses during pregnancy, accelerated puberty, high cholesterol and more.

When PFAS/PFOA reach groundwater, they can travel long distances and contaminate wells far from the source point. The Environmental Working Group states that there is no safe level of PFAS/PFOA in drinking water. 

This PFAS/PFOA water testing checks for 18 different chemicals in a water supply. The turnaround time on this test is 10 to 14 business days. Testing is performed by a certified laboratory and can help determine if filtration would be recommended.
